News this week
In ordinary circumstances there would be little news to include in a newsletter on Day Two of term, but so much has happened since the end of last term…
Firstly, what a joy to have the children back and so settled and ready for learning. Whilst there has been no shortage of people in school with me during August, school is much more enjoyable with pupils.
The classrooms, hall and shared areas have all been freshly painted, new blinds hung and the art store refurbished. The canopy has been replaced to make a lovely Library Courtyard. The bathrooms have been refurbished using the design choices that the children made in the summer term. It looks marvelous, it has all hugely benefitted the children, improving their learning environment and they are delighted and very appreciative of all the time and effort that the various teams have invested in making the school so lovely for their return. The Key Stage 1 children have voted to call their new bathroom the Bathroom of the Rainforest; you will be able to identify theirs’s from the photographs. It has been interesting to hear their plans for how they are going to keep everywhere tidy and smart…
And we are really pleased to share the news that after seven successive years of achieving a Gold School Games Mark for our commitment and high level of participation in sport, at the end of July, the school reached an even higher level and was awarded a Platinum Schools Games Mark. Well done, and thank you to Mrs Heath and Mr Mawn, who work extremely hard with the rest of the team to enable our pupils to have so many high quality opportunities for sport and developing their fitness, and for making our school such a healthy and active place to be.
