Adverse Weather and Emergency Closure.
Launton CE Primary School aims to remain open during adverse weather conditions whenever it is safe and practical to do so. Our priority is always the safety of our pupils, staff, and families.
Wherever possible, a decision to close the school will be made before the start of the school day. This decision will be taken by the Headteacher in consultation with the Senior Leadership Team. If the school is unable to open safely due to adverse weather or other unforeseen circumstances, parents will be informed as soon as possible. When this decision is made before the school day begins, all parents will be notified by email and local authority guidance for announcing closures will be followed.
In the unlikely event that the school needs to close during the school day due to adverse weather or other unforeseen circumstances, parents will be contacted by email and/or telephone and asked to collect their child(ren).
We understand that situations like this can cause difficulties for families, and we will make every effort to keep parents informed throughout any period of disruption.
School remaining open in snow and ice
When the school remains open during snowy or icy conditions, access to the site will be via the back playground gates as normal. Children will be directed straight into their classrooms on arrival. Everyone is asked to use the designated paths, which will be cleared and gritted wherever practically possible.
We recommend that children attend school wearing suitable clothing for the weather, including warm coats, hats, gloves, and appropriate footwear such as walking boots or wellington boots.
