World Book Day Magic at Our School!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined in the World Book Day fun—what an incredible celebration it was! Our hall was bursting with colour, creativity, and book‑themed puppets lovingly made by the children. It was wonderful to see so many pupils also choosing preloved books to take home and enjoy.

Our young readers had plenty to say about the day:

  • Arlo (Rowan Class) shared, “I liked showing the puppets.”
  • Izzy told us, “I liked seeing all the puppets in the hall.”
  • Molly enjoyed the creativity, saying, “I liked making a book with my forest buddy.”
  • Alice added, “My favourite part was making the bookmark and going into Ash class.”
  • Lena loved the shopping experience: “I liked getting the book token and buying a book from Coles’ book shop.”
  • And George was delighted with his choice: “I liked purchasing Chaos in the Chocolate Factory with my book token.”

Thank you to everyone who helped make this day such a joyful celebration of stories and imagination. The day was also a triumph of teamwork, with children paired with their Forest Buddies, busy with book-themed activities, sometimes in classrooms in which they do not routinely visit. Older children were excellent assistants and mentors to their younger Buddies. A team of keen, resourceful and independent year 5s set up the book sale in the front garden, brilliantly, so well done to Charlie, Ethan, Orlaith, Darcey, Amy and Freddie.

A Visit from Our Community PCSOs!

This Tuesday, our school had the pleasure of welcoming our community PCSOs, who brought learning to life with an exciting hands‑on experience for the children. Rowan Class were especially proud as they received a special certificate for taking part in the PC Ben Storybook Event.

The visit sparked lots of enthusiasm, and pupils were eager to share their favourite moments:

Theo said, “I loved sitting in the front of the police car and hearing the siren, which was very loud!”

Alfie D told us, “My favourite part was looking at the back of the truck.”

Charlie shared, “I found out about the different tools they use.”

Finn was delighted, saying, “I was proud to wear my PC Ben sticker so I could show my Mum and Dad.”

Jameson enjoyed trying on the uniform: “I liked wearing the police hat the best.”

And Jenson added, “When I was wearing the motorbike helmet, I felt like I was a policeman.”

A huge thank you to our PCSOs for such an engaging and memorable visit. It’s experiences like these that help our pupils learn, imagine, and connect with the community around them.

Cake Sale

Join year 6 after school on Thursday 19th March for a cake sale organised by me (Ella) with the assistance of a year 6 team. We will be raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society by donating the proceeds to help sponsor my Mum (Louise Warnock) to complete a 75km ultra walk in one day! Lots of yummy cakes guaranteed. Donations of small cakes on the day of the sale would also be appreciated, as well as customers to buy them, please.

Updates & Reminders

Safety

The playground gates are opened at 3.10pm to allow parents and carers to collect children more easily than from the car park. If you have a small child with you, they must not climb on school equipment. The trim trail looks superficially like climbing equipment found in some public play areas but it has been designed to be safely used under teacher supervision only and by older pupils.

The Parish Hall car park and surrounding area present significant challenges. Please do not park on the corner, obscuring the view round the bend, as this is dangerous: this is not a safe space to leave a vehicle. Please supervise young children closely in this area.

Online Safety Guides for Parents/Carers.

Just a reminder we have children in school with serious allergies please do not send your child in with items containing nuts, this includes chocolate spread, peanut butter and products containing a chocolate filling like Nutella or chocolate bars containing nuts. We have had a few occasions recently where we have found items have been sent into school in packed lunches which contain nuts.

Dates for the Diary

  • Monday 16th March - School Football Team Match
  • Thursday 19th March - Year 6 Cake Sale for Alzheimer's Society
  • Thursday 19th March - Year 6 Spikeball Festival
