Message from Ms Walker

This week, we have once again been treated to glorious sunshine. As we step into the 1st of May, it feels especially fitting to welcome the new month with such bright, uplifting weather—reminding us of the fresh beginnings and growth that this time of year represents.

As the weather continues to improve, please can we remind you that children should come to school with a sun hat each day. Sun cream should be applied at home in the morning to ensure children are protected while outside.

This week's news is from Rowan Class

Rowan and Beech class had a fantastic time at The Buckingham Railway Centre yesterday. Rowan pupils enjoyed it so much that many of them would like to go back and both classes have a voucher for 50% off their next visit. These are some of the things the Rowan pupils said about the trip.

Alfie D said, “The best thing was when we arrived, we went on a real steam train”.

“I liked hearing the whistles blow and bells ring when the train left the platform,” said Selena.

Henry said, “I enjoyed looking at and learning about how they sorted letters in the Royal Mail train”.

“The best part in the museum was when we saw the miniature railway model as there were six trains all going in different directions!” said Charlie.

“It was fun on the train ride because we saw lots of different toy characters such as Winnie the Pooh, the Flowerpot Men, the Minions, and lots of other toys,” said Taylor.

“I liked the miniature train ride at the end because it was fun especially when we went through the tunnel and everyone screamed!” said Molly.

A tour guide from Buckingham Railway Centre said that the children had made his day easy and that, in seven years, they were one of the best school groups he had ever had.

Beech Class Plant Sale

On Tuesday 5th May, Year 3 are hosting a plant sale. It will be situated at the front of the school and will begin at the end of the school day. The money that is raised, will go to a charity chosen by Beech Class.

Y6 Bake Sale

Year 6 will be holding a bake sale on Thursday 21st May at 3:15pm to raise money for their leavers’ trip. We would greatly appreciate any donations of baked goods to help support this event. Please ensure that all items are nut-free, as we are a nut-free school. Thank you for your support!

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. Have a lovely bank holiday weekend and enjoy the sunshine.

Don’t forget that the school will be closed on Monday 4th May.

Updates & Reminders

Allergies

Just a reminder we have children in school with serious allergies please do not send your child in with items containing nuts, this includes chocolate spread, peanut butter and products containing a chocolate filling like Nutella or chocolate bars containing nuts. We have had a few occasions recently where we have found items have been sent into school in packed lunches which contain nuts.

Safety

The playground gates are opened at 3.10pm to allow parents and carers to collect children more easily than from the car park. If you have a small child with you, they must not climb on school equipment. The trim trail looks superficially like climbing equipment found in some public play areas but it has been designed to be safely used under teacher supervision only and by older pupils.

The Parish Hall car park and surrounding area present significant challenges. Please do not park on the corner, obscuring the view round the bend, as this is dangerous: this is not a safe space to leave a vehicle. Please supervise young children closely in this area.
