This term our topic is 'The Story of Sound' and I have attached the new planner. Do bear in mind though that, as I try to get this out as early as possible, there are almost certainly going to be some changes. I always note these 'right here' on the news page so please WATCH THIS SPACE.
The whole school visit to see ALLADIN at the Milton Keynes Theatre was fabulous and kicked off the term beautifully. This week we have the 'Life Education Bus' for all the children in the school.
Composing and performing of music has begun in each class. At the end of term we will stage mini shows for the different age groups of children. These will be held at the end of term as are all our exhibitions, museums etc- but we haven't decided a date just yet!
Topic Challenge
.
The objective of this term's Topic Challenge is for you to design and make
your own musical instrument.
-
You MUST be able to create rhythm with your instrument
-
It SHOULD look really great for our end of term show.
-
You COULD create an instrument which can produce a tune (it would
need to have the capability to produce different notes)
Remember, you can complete your Topic Challenge on your own or you
can work together with your family.

I have had a request from a Year 6 parent to give some support in extending his child's learning. What a great idea!!
In addition to this 'Topic Challenge', I have attached our format for 'Personalised Learning' which older children often do in class. This format can apply to any learning which your child is interested in. We are always delighted to see any extra work from home. The attachment is on this page...and on the year 5/6 class page....happy learning!
Assonance and alliteration!
The Snowball Fight:
Zack P, Alex, Sophie, Ella S and Chris
Down on the snow-littered sparkly ground,
Below the freezing breezy blizzard,
Below the tall trees that surround,
Below the shimmery snowmen,
Below the shooting snowballs that splat on your hat,
Below my wet gloves are frozen finger tips,
Below my warm clothes are froze toes and hue nose,
It all brings back misty memories.

Lucas and Olivia (Y5).
Close to the smashing snow ball fight.
Beside the white slippery icy, Christmassy snow.
Beside the bitter blizzards splosh, splash on
On your blue truly blue face.
Beside the perishing wild wind flapping on your face.
Beside your frozen finger tips fizzing in the snow.
Beside the children shouting, shrieking in the slippery streets.
Beside the lumbering and laughter from everyone.
You in your woolly socks hats and scarf’s.
Snowball Fight:

Way up high where the snow falls,
Beside the willow tree a scary snowball fight takes place,
Beside us with freezing feet and chilly chins,
Beside the snow wonderfully white,
Beside the snowballs crashing against the icy icicles,
Beside are frosty fingers we still play on,
Beside the cold squelchy snow
Beside me feeling frozen,
Till the last snowball touches the ground.

Snow filled, snowballs, snowmen so much fun,
Under the frozen freezing frantic world,
Under that snow hits the end of my pointy nose,
Under my green rubber duck wellies it shivers my toes.
Under my world boom boom bang,
Under my blue eyes are salty tears as it hits me at the top of my dizzy head.
Under my whirling world I can’t move a muscle.
Under my world is precious, its mine & mine only.
I love my world but I don’t like it twirling around.
Snowball fight.
By: Eleanor, William L. Ella, Jasmine and Olivia (Year 4).
All around, silly snowball fights,
Near people with frozen fingertips
Near boys with tingling toes.
Near a girl with her nose as red as a rose.
Near snowballs bouncing off people’s faces and dropping to their laces
Near the wallop and whack of the cute snowball.
Near a strike like ice on my friends face.
Near a slippery, sledge, sliding, speedily.
I love the winter snowball fights they get me out of bed eagerly.
The Year 5 and 6 children had a residential visit to Woodlands in Wales in the last week of term.
Our focus was to develop:
SELF KNOWLEDGE, RESPONSIBILITY, COMMUNICATION AND WORKING WITH OTHERS.
This was an amazing opportunity for the children as for some it was their first time away from home. Some were home-sick and some were nervous but all succeeded in taking complete responsibility for themeselves and their peers. Here are some of the photographs capturing the children striving to achieve their goals.
