Key Information

Curriculum

The school has a creative cross-curricular curriculum. The same topic is followed by all the classes in the school which has lots of advantages; the main one being that we can organise visits and visitors for the whole school together which create an exciting focus for our learning.

The topics this academic year are:

  • Africa
  • Journeys
  • The Story of Sound
  • Invaders
  • Rainforest Riches
  • 2012

We have exciting 'Theme Days' to set alight our topics and this term we will look to create real purpose to our topics- now we have a lovely new hall to work with.

Every year we have a 'Vision Meeting' which is well attended by our caring and enthusiastic parents.
Attached is the presentation for our latest one held in July. This can be found on the page entitled 'Key information' in the 'About us' section of the website.

Dress Code

There has been much debate about how we would like our children at Launton to be dressed when they are at school. We have come to a democratic decision which involved parents and children at the school.

  • Dark coloured trousers/skirts/pinafores or shorts,
  • White polo shirts, blouses or t-shirts (polo shirts with the school logo can be bought from the school office);
  • In the summer girls like to wear checked red & white gingham dresses;
  • Red sweatshirts/cardigans (sweatshirts/cardigans with the school logo can be bought from the school office);
  • We have red fleece jackets with the school logo also available from the school office;
  • Water bottles and book bags are available from the School Office.
Nb Girls have started to wear long shorts under their dresses for when they are cart-wheeling on the field. I can see why they wish to do this but these should also follow the dress code and be of similar colour to other children's skirts and trousers (grey/black/ navy blue)- or perhaps white (not flourescent pink or green!).

Good health is an important part of our vision for the school so we also request:

  • Children should not wear jewellery to school. It can be dangerous. If your child has pierced ears, only studs are appropriate for school wear.
  • Children have a change of clothes for PE. This should include dark coloured shorts, red t-shirt without a collar, plimsoles and/or trainers and warmer dark-coloured ‘tracksuit type’ clothing for outdoor PE. These should be kept in a named, drawstring bag.
  • Children should wear sensible shoes (without heels) rather than trainers as these are not suitable for ‘all day’ wear.
